Education

I recently saw a couple of powerful presentations by Laura El-Tantawy at POST, in Hove and I'm tremendously looking forward to participating next month in her offering Brighton: A City of Edges at POST. The May session I'll be in is From Work to World with Nina Emmett of FotoDocument - a session focused on what happens after the images are made — curation, positioning a project and thinking about the life of work beyond the studio.

I'll be participating with a mini-print in Lu Mazen's Urban Nature project

Collaboration of fellow photographers and artists in a community event and exhibition.

Urban gardens—yards, allotments, and green corners—are often invisible. But together, they form a living network that improves the urban climate, supports biodiversity and offers refuge for people and wildlife. They give us space, to slow down, breathe, and regenerate. They offer community and a sense of can do. Garden Escapes is a photo book that shows what is and what could be. Supporting this book helps building wider awareness for the importance of creating an urban jungle for every city.

On my blog I've continued posting daily snapshots from my peregrinations around Brighton and Hove. Lately, I have been shooting with a 60mm macro lens (90mm equivalent on my camera). This is not a typical lens to use as a walking around lens, but I'm enjoying the oddity of it and learning how to see at this focal length and the particular characteristics of a lens designed for close-up work rather than general use. Have a look and sign-up to receive updates via email.
