HUMAN/NATURE
Later this month, I'll also be participating in an exhibition that brings 50+ international artists to Munich to rethink who shapes nature
The first edition of the international exhibition opens at Galerie Graf Rumford from 21–25 October 2026, bringing new and previously unseen works from artists across around 15 countries into dialogue around gardens, landscapes, belonging and control — What does the way we shape nature reveal about who we are?
Through photography, painting, sculpture, textile, installation and mixed media, artists from Europe, North and South America and beyond examine a relationship that has become increasingly difficult to ignore: the ways human beings cultivate, protect, transform and control the natural world — and the ways those environments, in turn, shape us. The exhibition arrives at a moment when climate change, urban expansion and ecological pressure are challenging the idea of nature as a stable backdrop to human life.

But HUMAN/NATURE begins with something much closer to home: the garden.

The Honoring Eye
opened on 12 September at the Terrain Gallery (141 Greene Street) in Manhattan's SoHo. I was delighted to meet other photographers in the show and visitors to the gallery. The exhibit remains open well into 2027 so please do visit (WED, FRI, SAT 1-5 PM) when you're in New York.

Other Studio News
I continue to work on my East Harlem project and was able to find time during my week or so in New York to photograph some more on the boundary street of East 96th Street and 97th Street with my good friend Woyman from primary school.
I also spent an afternoon adding images for my On Broadway project, shooting in Washington Heights where I worked for a number of years in the 1980s. I hope to have updates on both projects in the next newsletter.

Over on my blog, obBLOGato, September included a lot of pictures from my 10 days in New York, but started with some black and white images of an empty house close to home in Hove, which I have continued to photograph, so expect to see more pictures of it in October.
