December 2025

An occasional newsletter about recent, current and upcoming work from my studio.

.

If you're in Southeast England this weekend (6-7th of December), please come see me - I'll be at the Brighton Art Book Fair at the Evoke / Provoke Collective table with my UCA course-mate, Mingyi Sung.

I'll be offering copies, hot off the presses, of my new book, Alone Together, Together Alone: a modern romance, as well as some lovely mounted 7x5" prints, ready to frame - they'd make excellent gifts, if I do say so myself.

Postponed - The Power of Conscious Ageing

In my last newsletter I announced that I'd be participating, in the launch of Life-Stage's Adam Duncan & Georgie Lee's new book, The Power in Conscious Ageing in early December at Fabrica in Brighton, exhibiting images from my Modern Romance. Unfortunately the event has been postponed till next year. Watch this space for updated details.

As noted, The Power of Conscious Ageing is an invitation to embrace ageing not as decline, but as a sacred rite of passage — one rooted in both wisdom and courage, compassion and innovation. Learn more about Life-Stage here.

Home in Hove, Actually

After a couple of months of living somewhat itinerantly, we have finally moved into our flat in Hove. We spent a few

weeks sorting out Internet service, electricity and gas (still not quite done), and are now awaiting boxes of stuff shipped from NY six weeks ago - in particular my Canon photo printer, 645 film camera, light stands, umbrella, softbox and assorted other photographic paraphernalia.

Photo Oxford

As mentioned last time, I was among three recent graduates of UCA, Farnham to receive Photo Oxford Festival Portfolio Reviews. I got some excellent feedback and advice, meeting with a deputy photo editor at a national newspaper and a curator/writer who worked on some notable shows, including one I saw in New York.

On my blog, obBLOGato, December begins with some landscape images of the Hove coast and a walk on the South Downs. Then, after a sombre memorial for children killed in Gaza held in Brighton last month, it's on to a London art crawl starting with the Royal Academy and the brilliant Anselm Kiefer / Van Gogh exhibit.
